LASTWINDmusic is the working name of Paul Hayles, composer, arranger and producer of music.
Involved in the music scene since the mid-seventies, he has worked with, among others :
> HAWKWIND
> TOPPER HEADON (The Clash)
> JALAL NURINDA (Last Poets)
> REG MEUROSS
> HARRY WILLIAMSON
> CROPDUSTERS
Besides playing live extensively on three continents and his studio work he has composed the music for several films and TV programmes.
On this site there are samples of his music which is available for licence or purchase.
These samples are regularly replaced with others : LWm has quite a large stock of material with more pieces being composed and recorded each week.

The DOWNTIME album is about to come out. Called "THE PROJECT" it will soon be available on several web sites and digital and real stores. (A first single is already out on iTunes)
I’m also getting into some remixing - look out for one done for anglo-mexican band, FRACTURE.
If you want a remix, get in touch and you can send me the relevant tracks.
And LASTWIND is back on my agenda for the coming winter.
Keep your ears to the ground (and the sky).

Hi Folks,
Last couple of years my music time has been devoted to LASTWIND as a live and recording group. Having brought out RED STAR BRIGADE last autumn, I've decided to give some time to a different project - DOWNTIME.
This is just me working on some old toons, mainly of a hiphop variety. I'm in the process of remixing and remastering some old toons of this type, introducing some sampled vocals. Have a listen and see what you think. They are all available for licensing. I'm going to continue on this project for a couple more months before going back to LASTWIND.
Enjoy and let me know what you think >>>> DOWNTIME myspace HERE !

>>> October 2008 > > We are touring the UK !!!!!!!!!!!!
Hey, Just so you know. We are doing a tour of the UK. Short, but sweet. Two gigs in Bristol in two of our favorite venues PLUS a straight to internet live show.
And to make it really cool we have two of our favorite bands as support with the band leaders doing short solo sets too.
So, on Tuesday 28th October we are head-lining at the famous Bristolbands.com gig at The Fleece (on stage at 21:50) with support form Rita Lynch (solos set from 20:30) and BUTCHER (21:00). Then we are at Mr Wolf's on Thursday 30th October (on stage at 22:30) with support from Dan Butcher (solo set at 20:45) with the Rita Lynch Band (on stage at 21:40).
These are our only gigs in the UK this year. They will be packed and full of good vibes and good sound. Free entry at the Fleece and £3 at Mr Wolf's. Turn out in your hundreds. We will be selling very good value CDs etc.
LASTWIND on stage for this tour will be myself - keyboards, programming and vocals, + a brilliant young Bristol guitarist, Joe Wilkins and Laurence de Loes on vocals - people may remember her from This That The Other another project of ours. Unfortunately OBNY cannot make it to the UK for these gigs but he will be back with us in the future.
Lastwind play a mixture of space rock, hip-hop and techno with a punk edge.
See you there! > Paul Lastwind

Where has 2007 gone ? I really have no idea, it has just rushed passed in a flash. I've moved house, right into the centre of Bristol, with a new Banksy picture on the wall 100 metres away, a place where I can make quite a lot of noise. And I have been doing so. Cos I'm still busy on the music front even though I've had a busy year with other aspects of my life. Live work has been put on the back boiler for a while but we have been slowly finishing the LASTWIND album which should be ready in the new year - working title : Monster Trucks and Other Vehicles. I've written a lot of new tunes and am finishing the words ready for recording in about a month's time : the old tunes are already recorded vocals and all.
Then I am involved in a virtual studio recording happening over satellite and phone line links between the UK and USA with characters like Daevid Allen of Gong fame and Alan Daavey of Hawkwind among others. Loosely based on a cartoon character loosely based on Lemmy, it should be really good.
And keep an eye out for a new music site which I'm planning to create with NING. If you don't know NING.com check it out - it's a non-corporate, do you own thing version of Myspace, Facebook and similar. And, I promise more news in a month or two. Keep on truckin' and rockin' and groovin' and rappin' and whatever else turns you on.
There's a couple of new toons on the music page too. Check it out !

2007 has arrived, a new year full of promise and expectation. At the end of 2006 we started recording the voice for the proposed Lastwind album that we hope to have out before Easter. This we did in Avignon with OBNY at the desk. Of course, we will be using DOSE-productions to do our artwork.
Perhaps I should explain my various projects for the coming year.
Lastwind is my working band with whom I will be not only bringing out an album but also hopefully touring both in the UK and in Europe including some festivals this coming summer. Lastwind plays self composed songs of a space rock/techno/punk style.
Alongside this, I intend to continue working on continuing the This That The Other project of urban sounds using my music and Sonic's lyrics. We've made a start and intend to progress this slowly thru the year.
Then of course there is Lastwindmusic, composing music for sync, for licence and for others to use. Besides the music already on this site I have some new pieces which have been added in OUR MUSIC section. In particular, I have a few tunes/songs aimed at singer/songwriters. These are in a soul/rock sort of mode. (see below for the info and to listen to the 2 tunes).
A busy year coming up - hopefully a good one. And the best to you out there too, good health, good fun and, above all, good music.
Any comments or more information required ? email me !
